Hi, I’m Brianna Ndikum,

a multimedia journalist and recent graduate of Morgan State University. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Journalism with a minor in Information Systems.

My love for media started at home. I grew up watching The Wendy Williams Show with my mother and Anderson Cooper on CNN with my father. Those experiences sparked my interest in storytelling, current events, and how information reaches people.

Writing has always been one of my strongest forms of expression. I enjoy taking complicated topics and turning them into stories people can understand and connect with. I also love interviewing people, asking questions, and learning how their experiences shape their perspectives. That curiosity once led me to create a podcast featuring conversations and interviews with people in my community.

My goal is to become a news producer and help determine which stories are told, whose voices are included, and what information reaches the public. Too many communities are discussed without having their voices meaningfully represented. I want to help change that by producing journalism that is accurate, accessible, and inclusive.

My primary reporting interests include global affairs and local politics—especially how federal policies affect communities in Maryland. I am also interested in African politics and the connections among Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. As a Cameroonian American, I am particularly drawn to stories about political power, foreign influence, modern forms of colonialism, and African countries navigating questions of sovereignty and independence.

I believe people deserve access to important information before an issue directly affects them. Journalism should do more than react to a crisis. It should help people understand what is happening, why it matters, who benefits, and who may be harmed.

My minor in Information Systems strengthened my background in data analytics and my ability to examine the numbers behind a story. I am interested in using data to identify patterns, investigate public policies, and make complex information easier for audiences to understand.

I also cover beauty, with a particular interest in the science behind products, ingredients, techniques, and industry claims. Beauty is often treated only as a lifestyle topic, but I see opportunities to investigate the research, business practices, cultural expectations, and policies shaping the industry.

I have built my portfolio through university reporting assignments, Substack articles, TikTok videos, podcasting, and community interviews. Now that I have graduated, I am continuing to expand my portfolio and develop my voice across written, audio, video, and data-driven journalism.

I am available for freelance work, reporting and news-production opportunities, internships, fellowships, and creative collaborations.
